“TUNASLAM CORNER”
Thursday Recap Report-Weekend Possibilities:
For local fishing in Santa Monica, Long Beach, Catalina and San Clemente Islands.
01-21-10
Having experienced another beautiful day on the water Saturday and not too bad a day on Sunday, then we got blasted by the rain and wind and high seas for most of the week. This ended quite a run of good weather weekends, with three in a row, resulting in calm seas and sunshine.
Mother Nature let it roar so far this week, with much needed rainfall, and it looks to continue into next week.
Perhaps the weekend will be OK, although I caution everyone in a private boat to be alert for all the debris in the water. Certainly traveling in the dark, so close to such a huge runoff, is dangerous. Logs, trees, and who knows what other hazards exist. If going by private boat, please use extreme care.
Bass and Sculpin fishing remain the primary targets of most anglers, with an occasional Halibut or Bonito, adding spice to the catch rate.

Islands!
Catalina
The island still has plenty of Bonito on the front side according to Matt, as he fished on his friend Steve’s boat and they caught over fifty Bonito to three pounds on Saturday 01-16-10. They added 13 thirteen Lobster during the evenings hooping session.
Private boater Jeff also fished Catalina over the weekend, and found some big Calico Bass on the chew, after loading up on live squid under the lights.
Private boater Art fished Catalina Saturday 01-16-10with friends and also found the Calico Bass on a serious chew, catching and releasing some sixty. They also had a good time releasing lots of Bonito and a few Barracuda. The three B’s, I love it.
San Clemente Island
Private boater Stewart fished the Island Saturday 1-16-10 with a friend, catching and releasing some sixty Calico Bass to four pounds. They also caught a few Sheephead, which were released.
No Sporties out again, that I know of.
